He wrote the books On Rybachy Street the Snow Flurries (Vologda, 2000) and Small Stories about the Big War (Vologda, 2002). To do this, he became skilled at using a computer, typed the text himself, and printed it on a printer when he was in his 80s. Only 25 copies of the book, which can be called a bibliographic rarity, are kept in several libraries in Vologda and Murmansk.

His first book is composed of his front diaries, his memoirs of his service in the Northern Fleet.

Other books written by Farutin represent notes from front-line notebooks and publications from the regional newspaper Krasny Sever, dedicated to his battle friends — fellow soldiers and countrymen.
Farutin N.S.'s publications in the newspaper 'Krasny Sever':

Here is what he writes:
Memory is not a passive category. It stirs, makes us remember, pull out letters and notebooks yellowed by time, take up the pen, praise the courage and patriotism of the soldiers of the forties …

...We must know about the sacrifices this war cost us, what destruction it brought, left wounds in the souls of people and on the body of the earth, at what cost we passed these victories. In such matters there should not and cannot be oblivion
He dedicated all his life to the memory of the Great Patriotic War and his comrades-in-arms.
