Kima Evgenievna Lukyanova, born in 1936.

Kima Evgenievna Lukyanova was born in Belarus, in the town of Borisov, Minsk region. At the time of the outbreak of war little Kima was only 4 years old. Falls under the category of “children of war”
Kima Evgenievna's memories of the first day of the war:
“When the war started I was 4 years old. The most tragic thing I remember about the war was the bombing of my hometown on the first day of the war. We were hiding in basements, it was nighttime, but because of the constant explosions it seemed like daytime outside. The adults prayed and asked God to save everyone and so that the war would end quickly.”
Among Kima Evgenievna's relatives, her husband's father went to the front, but, unfortunately, did not return from the war.
Borisov region was liberated during the Minsk offensive operation in late June - early July 1944 by the troops of the 3rd Belorussian Front of Army General I. D. Chernyakhovsky together with the partisan formations of the region. The transition to peaceful life in Belarus took place under difficult conditions.
Воспоминания Кимы Евгеньевны о 9 мая 1945 года:
“I remember well how the war ended - we were on our way home from the village when Victory was announced. All the Germans were fleeing into the forest. I remember that there were a lot of German corpses lying on the sides of the road. It was a very scary time.

After the war ended we returned home. On the way mom was very worried that we might have nowhere to live. Fortunately, the house was intact.”

Memories of Lukyanova Kima Evgenievna about the postwar years:
“Life after the war was hard. There was a terrible famine in Belarus. We survived as best we could. We, the children of the war, had a hard life. The war took away our childhood and youth.
I'll never forget when we went to the first grade. It snowed on September 1st. Some of my classmates had their parents sew a coat from German clothes to keep them warm on the street. Everyone had “торбочки” - there were no briefcases, our mothers or grandmothers sewed them themselves and in them there was an ABC book. At school at the lunch break we were given 50 grams of bread, a small piece and a teaspoon of sugar. It was a very hard time. I had to work hard as a teenager, I had to help my mother.
There was a ration card system then, bread was given by coupons. My mom gave us some of it, and left some for later. Now I see how bread is thrown away - some people don't appreciate it, don't finish it and throw it away. But at that time bread was kissed, it was very much needed.”

Wishes of the heroine to the younger generation:
“I would like to tell young people and the younger generation that we live in a very good country where we are taken care of. I love my homeland very much, I love all people. I always want to treat and feed everyone which is something that remained from my childhood. Children of the war had a very hard time, and now it is good to live. I want to wish peace, and that all were alive and healthy”.
