Lyudmila Viktorovna Glybenko who was born in 1935.

Lyudmila Viktorovna Glybenko was born in the Mogilev region, Miloe station, a railway settlement. The so-called 'children of war,' Lyudmila was only 6 years old when the war broke out.
Lyudmila Viktorovna's memories of the first day of the war:
"We realized that the war had begun when we heard the drone of an airplane. At that moment, we were playing pebbles on the street, not far from home. I remember a big, scary metal bird flying through the sky with a wild roar. As it turned out later, the plane was flying to bomb bridges. One of the bombs fell 50 meters away from us and by the railway. A lot of dust rose, the parents jumped out of the house and ran into the woods. And I had a little sister, she wasn't walking yet – I grabbed her and dragged her into the house, and when everything was quiet, we disappeared into the woods together. We spent the night in the village, then went to live in the forest – we were afraid to stay in the villages."

From the first days of the war, the workers of the Mogilev region, together with the entire Soviet people, rose up to fight against the Nazi invaders. Its main forms were the guerrilla movement, the underground struggle, and the massive disruption of the political, economic, and military activities of the occupiers by the unarmed population.Starting in July 1941, the Pavlov partisan group, formed from Soviet soldiers who had not left the enemy's rear, operated at the Miloe station in the Klichevsky district.

From the report of the commander of the 61st partisan detachment, G. K. Pavlov, to the Mogilev underground district committee of the KP(b)B about the combat activity of the detachment. January 3, 1944
Residents of the partisan zones took exceptional care of their defenders. They not only supplied the partisans with food, but also participated in the construction of fortifications, airfields, helped the partisans to obtain intelligence, and took care of the wounded. At the expense of representatives of the local population, the ranks of the partisans were replenished.Lyudmila Viktorovna shared that during the war they lived in the forest, hiding from the Germans. The fascists tried to catch people who helped the partisans. If they found them, they killed the whole family at once. Because they considered them enemies.
Lyudmila recalls: "There was even such a case – the partisans gathered in the forest, they wanted to find out where the Germans were and accidentally stumbled upon them. One partisan managed to escape, but he was shot in the shoulder. We were left alone. Someone's mom and we're kids. I remember how the Germans approached us with weapons. They were shouting, hurrying us. They forced everyone to follow the horse and cart in a column. And I was walking and I didn't know how old I was, I didn't understand what year it was, but it was very interesting to stay and see what would happen when the war was over. It didn't even occur to me that I might get shot in the head".
In the winter of 1941-1945, the heroine's family lived in different villages of the Mogilev region. We had to move a lot – the Germans burned down many houses. There have even been cases of people being burned in furnaces.During the war, Lyudmila Viktorovna, as a little girl, often helped wounded partisans and soldiers:
"They were lying on their beds, and we were asked to keep mosquitoes and flies away from them. It was a big problem at the front."
Воспоминания Глыбенко Людмилы Викторовны о Дне Победы:
"On May 9th, we were in the forest. I remember how people heard the thud of guns and the trampling of horses. At first we didn't understand what was going on, but then we heard shouts: 'Get out of the forest. The war is over. Come out!' And they saw cavalrymen walking along the road on well-fed horses. The grandmothers immediately jumped out onto the road, hugged the soldiers along with the horses, and cried and rejoiced a lot. The cavalrymen rode on and we didn't see them again. It was very joyful in my heart that day and the following days, despite the fact that many people were crying."
Я убеждена, что та молоденькая девушка, которая приехала в Москву в двадцатые годы, сама еще не представляла, какую роль в истории мировой культуры ей суждено было сыграть
Е.Ю.Гениева
After the end of the war, Lyudmila Viktorovna and her family returned to their grandmother's wooden house. The heroine's native house did not survive – it was dismantled into boards, from which coffins were made for the burial of partisans.

"I wish everyone to live peacefully, so that wars do not arise. So that everyone could live their lives well, and that there would be nothing like what we saw during the war."
