We must remind of those
to whom we owe the happiness
of living on earth
A lot of time has passed since the volleys of the Great Patriotic War died down. Courage and heroism, fortitude and bravery were shown in this fierce struggle.

As these years go by, we must love and take care of those people who are with us and remind of those to whom we owe the happiness of living on earth. When I read and listen to stories about veterans, I often think about my grandfather, who passed away. Unfortunately, I didn’t see my grandfather, because he died when I hadn’t been born yet. For this reason, I’m recalling the events in my dad’s words. They were best friends with grandfather. He talked a lot of about the war, his unfulfilled hopes, his peers and his difficult life that the war suddenly interfered in.

The old photos...I like to look at them. And with their help freely travel through time. That way you see your loved ones alive and blooming with youthful enthusiasm. I have a picture of my grandfather in front of me now.
Kisilyuk Ivan Vladimirovich was born on July 7, 1920 in the village of Malinki, Vinnytsia region. In July 1941, as commander of an intelligence group, he participated in the Great Patriotic War.

The intelligence group was engaged in collecting information about the deployment and number of units, their weapons and route. He participated in the liberation of Stalingrad. During the next task of the group, which consisted of 17 people during the capture of Berlin, the full force fell into minefields, where only Ivan Vladimirovich remained alive. He was seriously injured, lost the right limb of his arm and shrapnel wound to his eyes, as a result of which his eyesight was irretrievably lost.

Long-term treatment and rehabilitation at the Novosibirsk hospital was a very difficult stage of life. It is difficult to go through these hardships on your own, to realize all the worries of the future. But as fate would have it, Ivan Vladimirovich met a nurse in the hospital, who constantly cared for him and participated in the treatment, and in this regard, having brought their interests and pleasant communication closer together, they realized that they were made for each other, and signed marriage papers soon after.

Their sons Alexey and Sergey

After the war ended, together with his lawful wife Stephanie, he returned to his native Vinnytsia region, where they had two beautiful sons.

Despite all the difficulties in his life, Ivan Vladimirovich, thanks to his knowledge of the geographical location of countries, even being blind after the injury, could show any country on the map. In this regard, he was offered to be a geography teacher at a local school.

For his courage and bravery during the Great Patriotic War, he was awarded the honorary Orders of the Red Star and the Red Banner, the Medal for Military Merit and the Medal for the Capture of Berlin.

At the age of 58, on 06/03/1978, Ivan Vladimirovich Kislyuk died. He was buried in his native village of Malinovka, Vinnytsia region.

It has been a long time since my grandfather's death, but my family will never forget that he and millions of other soldiers who fought during the Great Patriotic War saved the whole world from fascism so that we could live under a peaceful sky so that children could scream: "Hurrah!" when the guns are firing and the Victory flag is flashing in the sky!

Eternal memory, eternal glory to the heroes, defenders of the Motherland.

Thank you so much for our happy peaceful childhood!
